Under the general supervision of the Principal and the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Vocational Instruction (SVI) the Vocational Instructor for Plumbing implements the California Department of Corrections (CDCR) learning goals and objectives. Vocational Instructors work within the policies and practices of the Office of Correctional Education, including the implementation of only the approved curriculum. Vocational Instructors are expected to prepare instruction and assessment that is aligned with the policies and regulations of the CDCR Office of Correctional Education, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and the partner organizations and associations through which CDCR students receive trade certifications.

Working Conditions

CCI is a Multi-level, Sensitive Needs Yard, facility consisting of three (3) facilities, encompassed within a campus style layout with varied terrain. Work in this location may require exposure to varied temperatures dependent upon the season.

-15 minute commute from Tehachapi City, 1 hour 15 minute commute from Lancaster/Palmdale and 1 hour commute from Bakersfield.

-Centrally located for destination/vacation spots: 4 hours to Las Vegas, 2 hours to Los Angeles, 5 to San Diego, 3 hours to the Central Coast and 2.25 hours to Wine Country in Paso Robles.
