Summary of Position:

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will report directly to the Accounting Transformation Manager and will take ownership of core month-end close responsibilities while partnering on initiatives to innovate, streamline, and automate accounting workflows.

The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation and some hands-on close experience, works with a degree of independence on recurring responsibilities, and is comfortable leveraging modern tools — including AI and automation — to drive efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function. This is a hybrid role located at our Long Beach, CA headquarters.

You Will:

• Month-End Close & Reconciliations
  • Prepare and post routine and recurring journal entries to support the monthly close process.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items in a timely manner.

• Process Improvement & Automation

  • Support the Accounting Transformation Manager in identifying opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve accounting processes.
  • Partner on the design and implementation of AI-enabled tools, workflows, and reporting solutions to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving documentation of accounting processes and controls.

• Audit Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with AP, FP&A, and other operational teams as needed.
  • Contribute to ad hoc accounting projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

You Must Have:

• Solid understanding of core accounting principles and U.S. GAAP concepts.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis.
• Working knowledge of, or hands-on exposure to, automation and AI tools in an accounting context, with interest in continuing to expand those skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with hands-on responsibilities and minimal oversight.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Curious, proactive mindset with a demonstrated track record of improving processes, not just executing them.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of month-end close and account reconciliations.
• Exposure to ERP systems such as Microsoft D365 a plus.
• CPA eligibility or intent to pursue CPA is a plus, but not required.

A reasonable salary estimate for this role based on experience, education, and geographic location is: $75,000-$95,000
