Custodian II
WADENA COUNTY

Performs intermediate semiskilled work cleaning, maintaining and making minor repairs to County facilities and related work as apparent or assigned. This position works to provide and maintain a clean and safe work environment for the County.Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all custodial duties, including, but not limited to, cleaning of county buildings as assigned; operates floor scrubber, vacuum, carpet cleaner, mops and other small tools and equipment as needed; empties trash, tidies rooms, rearranges furniture and wipes down surfaces; maintains and sanitizes bathrooms, toilets, sinks, and floors; keeps entry ways clear of debris and snow; cleans windows, glass doors, and walls; and restocks materials through the buildings that include toilet paper, hand towels, tissues and the alike.
- Performs minor maintenance in and around all county facilities, including but not limited to, repairs and adjustments to plumbing, furniture, shelves, doors, windows, walls, fixtures, and various small equipment.
- Performs minor groundwork around all county facilities including, but not limited to landscaping, lawn mowing, snow removal, ice control, and the alike.
- Removal of recyclable materials from the county buildings.
- Notifies department head of janitorial supply needs, including monitoring supply inventory and ordering all paper and custodial supplies as directed by Department Head.
- Recommends maintenance repairs and improvements to Department Head.
- Assists with loading and unloading deliveries for county offices.
- Obtains any quotes or estimates for building or ground repairs as directed by Department Head.
- Performs computer data entry to maintain accurate files and records.
- Attends training, educational and staff meetings as assigned.
- Familiarity with OSHA and relevant Department of Labor laws and requirements.
- Ability to use small equipment and hand/power tools appropriately and in a safe manner.
- General knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and ability to use them economically and efficiently.
- General knowledge of how chemicals react and the use of cleaning materials.
- Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written directions.
- Ability to work under limited supervision with general autonomy in determining how objectives are achieved.
- Ability to respond to calls for service outside the normal work schedule as directed by Department Head.
- Ability to communicate with department staff, contractors, the general public, etc. to relay basic information or facts
- Requires a high school degree or equivalent combination of training/experience and two years technical school or specialized training; and
- A minimum of two-year relevant experience; OR equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Valid Minnesota driver's license.
- Meet BCA requirements to access secured areas of county building.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a variety of environments including indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, chemicals, oil, extreme temperatures, intense noises and work activities may involve safety precautions and considerations in the performance of the duties.
