Registered Nurse - Medical Oncology Unit

Schedule

7:00 PM - 7:30 AM with a 36-hour guarantee. Required to take step-down patients.

Job Description

The medical oncology unit will consist of patients with a cancer diagnosis, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow. This position requires basic knowledge of the pathophysiology of cancer and the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients on this unit.

Responsibilities

• Regularly assesses patient needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.
• Provides direct patient care, including nursing assessment, medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment plans and patients' conditions to make suggestions and participate in updating/revising treatment plans in collaboration with other team members.
• Processes physician/provider orders and performs physician-ordered care accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
• Follows up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of Med Surg Experience - Required
• Oncology Experience - Required
• Comfortable taking Step Down Patients - Required
• Prior Travel Work History - Highly Preferred
• Epic EMR Experience - Highly Preferred
• Active Michigan RN License - Required
• Active American Heart Association BLS - Required
• Active American Heart Association ACLS - Required
