Assembly Technician – Cleanroom X-Ray / Semiconductor Components

This role focuses on assembling precision components around wafers and sensors used in semiconductor applications within a cleanroom X-ray area. You will perform detailed, repetitive assembly work using tweezers and hand tools, follow documented processes, and utilize magnification equipment and computer systems to ensure high-quality, accurate production.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble small semiconductor components around wafers and sensors using tweezers and hand tools with a high level of precision and dexterity.
  • Work in a cleanroom X-ray area, consistently following cleanroom protocols and handling sensitive parts carefully.
  • Perform repetitive fine-detail assembly tasks while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail throughout the shift.
  • Read and follow process sheets and written work instructions to complete assembly steps correctly and in the proper sequence.
  • Use magnifying glasses and microscopes as needed to inspect and assemble small parts and ensure proper alignment and quality.
  • Operate computer systems to complete documentation, record production data, and maintain accurate assembly and inspection records.
  • Handle medical and electronic assembly tasks that may involve soldering, wire bonding, and electro-mechanical work, as needed and as trained.
  • Interpret basic blueprints or diagrams to understand component placement and assembly requirements when applicable.
  • Collaborate with team members in a flexible, "wear many hats" environment, taking ownership of tasks and supporting different areas such as machine shop, lab, and general assembly when needed.
  • Follow safety, cleanliness, and quality standards at all times to support a highly organized and research-focused environment.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in small-part assembly, working with fine, detailed components.
  • Minimum of 3 months of experience performing assembly work using a microscope.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand process sheets and document work accurately.
  • Comfort working in a cleanroom environment and following cleanroom procedures and protocols.
  • Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for handling very small parts with tweezers and other tools.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus, quality, and consistency.
  • Basic computer skills for entering data and completing documentation in a computer system.
  • Experience with microscope use in an assembly or inspection setting.
  • Experience in medical assembly, semiconductor assembly, or electronic/electro-mechanical assembly environments.
  • Ability to interpret simple blueprints or diagrams related to assembly work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior cleanroom experience is a plus.
  • Inspection or packaging experience is an advantage.
  • Wire bonding experience is a strong plus and may support growth into more advanced technical roles.
  • Soldering experience, particularly in medical or electronic assembly, is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical assembly processes is helpful.
  • Comfort working in an R&D-oriented environment where processes may evolve.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform well without constant supervision.
  • Strong team mindset and willingness to support multiple areas, including machine shop, lab, and general assembly, as needed.

Work Environment

The work takes place in an exceptionally clean, organized facility with a strong R&D feel, led by a highly technical leadership team. The environment includes a machine shop area, cleanroom, lab area, and general assembly area, all maintained to high cleanliness standards and generally quiet. You will work in a cleanroom X-ray area and may move between different production and lab spaces depending on needs. The culture emphasizes wearing many hats, taking ownership of tasks, and contributing to a flexible, team-oriented atmosphere where initiative is valued. Work is performed on a first shift with flexible start times—typically between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.—with 8-hour shifts and a preference for a consistent schedule. Cleanroom attire and appropriate protective gear are required when working in controlled environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Bear Lake, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
