Become a Perioperative Care Assistant at Cayuga Health - NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/ppThe perioperative care assistant in the operating room will be responsible for providing routine care that assists in safe and effective patient care in the Surgical Services Department under the direct supervision of the RN./ppRoles and Responsibilities:/pulliTransports patients, delivers stat patient specimens to appropriate areas./liliObtains blood/blood products from blood bank./liliAssists perioperative charge nurse in the patient holding area./liliPerforms surgical clipping according to department policy./liliAssists with positioning, moving, and lifting patients./liliAssists the surgical team with room turnover/termination./liliAssists nursing staff in OR suites as requested./liliDemonstrates basic knowledge of cleaning for turnover and termination of OR rooms. (Prepares rooms for emergency and next day cases)./liliSets up, cleans, and delivers equipment to OR suites./liliReturns clean equipment to proper location./liliMaintains a neat, safe, clean environment./liliRestocks daily supplies, sets up supplies for next day./liliRemoves trash, linen, and used equipment from OR suite at close of cases./liliCleans equipment, OR tables, floors, and kick buckets in assigned OR rooms./liliAssures stock of personal protective equipment in assigned rooms and halls./liliMaintains decontamination room in neat and clean manner sending dirty carts down to Sterile Processing./liliCleans and makes up stretchers for holding use./liliFulfills all full-time or part-time requirements for hours worked for which hired (FT - 37.5, PT - 30.0, etc.)/liliFulfills all weekday and weekend on call requirements - this applies to all PCAs (FT, PT, PD)./liliException is to individuals based at Surgicare/li/ulpRequired Skills and Experience:/pulliHS Diploma or equivalent experience/li/ulpPreferred Skills and Experience:/pulli1+ years of experience in a healthcare related role is preferred/li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliMust be able to stand for long periods of time.
