Job Title: Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
Location: Martinez, CA
A community-based behavioral health program is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide weekday vacation coverage in a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). This is a short-term opportunity focused on delivering acute psychiatric care to children and adolescents in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Job Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric evaluations and assessments for children and adolescents in a CSU setting
- Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization for acute behavioral health presentations
- Manage medications and initiate appropriate treatment plans
- Conduct risk assessments, including evaluation for involuntary holds as appropriate
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, nurses, and case managers
- Participate in treatment planning and discharge coordination
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
- Weekday vacation coverage assignment
- Monday Friday schedule
- Daytime hours
- Short-term coverage (specific dates to be provided)
- No call required
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry preferred
- Active California medical license (or ability to obtain)
- DEA license required
- Experience in acute care, CSU, emergency, or inpatient settings preferred
- Strong comfort level with crisis intervention and high-acuity patients
- Expertise in child and adolescent psychiatric care
- Strong crisis assessment and stabilization skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Efficient documentation and time management
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
- Short-term, flexible coverage opportunity
