Director of Finance

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Director of Finance – Americas to lead the Americas finance and accounting function for a growing engineering consulting firm. This role is responsible for developing and managing the Americas finance and accounting team while ensuring accurate financial reporting, scalable workflows, regulatory compliance, and effective financial planning processes. The successful candidate will be a working finance and accounting leader with a strong accounting foundation who can serve as a key business partner to leadership, driving financial visibility, process improvements, executing strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and informed decision‑making across the organization. This position requires a balance of leadership and day‑to‑day operational execution. Key Responsibilities Finance & Accounting Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop the Americas finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Enhance WIP accounting, project accounting, and revenue recognition processes to improve financial visibility and project performance monitoring. Champion continuous improvement efforts, leveraging technology and process enhancements to create a more efficient, scalable, and high‑performing finance organization. Drive consistency, efficiency, and scalability within the finance function. Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting practices in accordance with US GAAP. Oversee US tax compliance activities and support the preparation of annual tax returns. Business Partnership & Financial Management Partner with operational leaders throughout the Americas to strengthen business performance and financial accountability. Support project financial management, profitability analysis, and business decision‑making. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the Americas region. Manage cash flow forecasting and provide visibility into financial performance and business trends. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Prior experience as a Director of Finance, Controller, VP Finance, or similar leadership role. Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise. Experience leading accounting teams and improving financial processes. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, cash management, and financial analysis. AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) industry experience preferred. Strong understanding of WIP accounting, project accounting, revenue recognition, and US GAAP. Experience with Deltek is preferred. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
