Job Summary The HR Generalist works in a plant setting and is responsible for a variety of HR administrative tasks under the plant HR manager, including payroll processing, recruiting assistance, benefits administration, communication, event planning and other duties assigned. Responsibilities Conduct recruiting process: interviews, tests and selecting team members to fill vacant positions. Develop human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action. Improve manager and team member performance by identifying problems, evaluating potential solutions, implementing selected solutions and coaching managers and employees. Create and maintain development plans including training plans and performance reviews. Promote company core values, objectives and culture. Plan and conduct new team member orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals. Maintain and coordinate team member recognition programs. Maintain communication flow regarding pertinent information such as company announcements and policy changes. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs. Monitor tardy and absenteeism reports and ensure proper documentation. Prepare team member separation notices and conduct exit interviews. Assist with worker's compensation and safety issues. Administer payroll processing, benefits programs (life, health, dental, disability, pension, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, employee assistance) and track vacation, sick days and holidays. Coordinate environmental, health and safety activities through leadership and communication. Complete special HR projects: clarify objectives, set timetables, conduct research, develop and organize information, prepare reports, investigate complaints and analyze time and cost issues. Maintain records of benefit plan participation, performance data and government reporting; respond to unemployment claims and advise on labor legislation compliance. Retain team member records in line with company and legal requirements. Expectations Good oral and written communication. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of HR principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, compensation, benefits, labor relations and payroll systems. Customer service skills: assessing needs, meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s or associate’s degree from college or university; 2–3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Human Resource systems, internet software, payroll systems, spreadsheet software and word processing software. Traits & Values Hope – maintain optimism.
