Controller

Vaco is partnering with a confidential, growing organization near Springfield, MA to identify a Controller who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and enjoys partnering closely with executive leadership to drive financial excellence. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants to make a meaningful impact by leading day-to-day accounting operations, improving financial processes, and serving as a trusted business partner to executive leadership. Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Perform cost accounting, job costing, profitability analysis, and commission calculations Manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance and 1099 reporting Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, internal controls, and continuous process improvements Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while ensuring strong internal controls and segregation of duties Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Progressive accounting experience, including leadership or controllership responsibilities Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls Construction or other project-based industry experience is a plus Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a hands-on approach Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
