SUPERVISOR, TOOLING OPERATIONS (STARSHIP)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and manage a staff of ~30 welders and painters, including all performance management tasks Schedule work, assign tasks, and assess completed work Coordinate personnel and equipment to maximize effectiveness amid changes Manage performance and professional growth of team members Manage contractors and relationships to maximize value and execution Maintain and improve equipment, processes, and procedures to maximize team impact Work with management and engineering to streamline designs and review/recommend work instruction improvements Apply welding codes and uphold high workmanship standards Enforce site and personnel safety Assess candidates and provide recommendations during hiring

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s or associate degree and 4+ years of flux‑cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), or gas metal arc welding (GMAW), or 8+ years professional metal fabrication experience in lieu of a degree 2+ years of leadership experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

General welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment knowledge, theory, application, maintenance, and testing Experience managing more than 10 employees Ability to interpret drawings and weld symbols per AWS D17.1 Knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.6, and D1.2 Fabrication of large‑scale welded assemblies to tight dimensional tolerances Professional and respectful interaction across disciplines Stress and change management Strong problem‑solving skills Blueprint reading experience GD&T interpretation skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work one of the following shifts: Monday‑Friday, 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Monday‑Friday, 6:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m. Willingness to work long hours, nights, and weekends with limited notice Physical requirements: Sit up to 3 hr/day; Push/Pull up to 75 lbs unassisted for 2 hr+; Overhead reach up to 1 hr/day; Walk up to 3 hr/day; Lift/Carry up to 50 lbs unassisted for 2 hr+; Climb ladder/stairs up to 3 hr/day; Kneel/Crouch up to 3 hr/day; Upper body twist up to 3 hr/day; Ability to work in temperatures over 80 °F up to 3 hr/day; use air‑purifying respirator; operate heavy equipment and machinery. Candidate may be required to complete a pre‑employment questionnaire or physical assessment.
