Job Description

This role supports a growing production operation by safely operating machinery, monitoring production processes, inspecting materials, and helping ensure that all products meet quality and safety standards. Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery and equipment safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor machine performance during operation and promptly identify, report, or help resolve issues that may affect production output or quality.
• Inspect incoming materials, in-process work, and finished products to ensure they meet defined quality standards and specifications.
• Load and unload materials, components, and finished goods as required to support continuous production flow.
• Use basic measurement tools and visual inspection techniques to verify product quality and identify defects or discrepancies.
• Perform basic quality checks and assist with quality control activities, including labeling and proper identification of parts and materials.
• Handle automotive parts, metal components, and related materials used in recycling and remanufacturing processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following housekeeping standards and removing debris or scrap as needed.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements at all times.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude by recognizing unusual equipment noises, vibrations, or performance issues and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Support production goals and departmental objectives by meeting productivity, quality, and accuracy expectations.
• Assist in other departments, including the CAT Department and recycled products areas, as needed to support cross-functional production demands.
• Collaborate with team members, leads, and supervisors to coordinate workflow and maintain smooth operations across shifts.
• Use basic computer skills, where required, to log production data, track work orders, or complete simple system entries.
• Adhere to attendance expectations by arriving on time, prepared for work, and ready to complete the assigned shift schedule.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, recycling, or industrial environments preferred, not required.
• Experience operating manufacturing or production equipment while maintaining quality and safety standards is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial setting handling automotive parts and related materials.
• Capability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed throughout the shift.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machinery operates and recognize potential equipment issues.
• Ability to perform quality inspection tasks, including identifying defects, discrepancies, and nonconforming materials.
• Strong work ethic with a consistent history of dependable attendance and reliability.
• Reliable transportation to and from the worksite for all scheduled shifts.
• Basic computer skills to support simple data entry or system use are a plus.
• Comfort working with power tools, hand tools, and basic measurement tools when required for the job.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous machine operator experience in a production or warehouse environment is highly beneficial.
• Experience in general labor, general production, or quality inspection work.
• Experience working with automotive parts, metal components, or scrap materials.
• Familiarity with quality control practices, including labeling, documentation, and part identification.
• Ability to multitask and support multiple departments, such as CAT and recycled products, through cross-training.
• Comfort working with measurement tools and performing basic checks to verify product specifications.
• Strong dependability, including willingness to work overtime based on production demands.
• Openness to learning new processes and equipment as the facility adds new departments and capabilities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-paced industrial facility focused on automotive recycling, remanufacturing, and related production activities. Team members work with car parts, metal components, and scrap materials that are processed for resale, refurbishment, or scrap sales. The environment includes operating production machinery, using power tools and hand tools, and handling various automotive parts on the shop floor. Work is performed on-site, Monday through Friday, with a standard first shift from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from approximately 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with overtime available based on production demands. The facility continues to grow through investments in new departments such as the CAT Department and recycled products, offering a stable yet evolving workplace with structured shifts and an emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to PPE and industrial safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coventry, RI.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
