Commercial Auto Underwriter

Overview We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Auto Underwriter to lead our efforts in managing and shaping our commercial auto insurance book. In this critical role, you’ll influence profitability, ensure rate adequacy, and build strong relationships with agents and internal teams. Your expertise will support company growth and industry excellence while guiding less experienced underwriters and fostering collaboration across departments. Responsibilities Lead efforts in managing and shaping the commercial auto insurance book. Influence profitability and ensure rate adequacy. Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and internal teams. Guide less experienced underwriters and foster collaboration across departments. Qualifications 4–6 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting or a related role within insurance Deep knowledge of the Commercial Auto (CAR) manual, rules, and regulations Strong analytical skills and business judgment for risk assessment Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Proven negotiation, relationship management, and customer service skills Effective time management and organizational capabilities Preferred Qualifications Industry designations such as AU; progress toward CPCU or CIC preferred Experience working with agency management and supporting business development Familiarity with industry trends, market conditions, and fraud detection techniques Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field A track record of success within commercial lines underwriting, ideally 4 to 6 years or more Work Schedule Schedule: 3 days in office. Can choose between offices in Webster or Boston. The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
