Piedmont is committed to building lasting relationships with the customers we serve and fully understanding our customers' needs to provide the best solution for each client.The HVAC Mechanic, Level II, is responsible for independently performing routine preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as service repairs, on HVAC systems. This role includes the startup and commissioning of standard HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation and system performance. The position requires the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, as well as a strong understanding of ductwork, sheet metal construction, and refrigerant management practices. In addition to technical responsibilities, Level II Mechanics provide guidance and mentorship to Level I HVAC Mechanics to support skill development and overall team effectiveness.Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms routine preventive and predictive maintenance and service repairs on HVAC systems without supervisionAnalyze, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, startup, adjust and replace mechanical equipment and control componentsIdentify predictive failures and provide accurate information for spot quotesStart up and commissioning of Standard HVAC equipmentDiagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical componentsReplace or repair defective components including motors, controls, and electrical wiringTest systems to ensure proper functioning after serviceRead and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specificationsMaintain accurate service records and documentationFollow all required safety protocolsAbility to mentor Level I HVAC MechanicsUtilize DST TechnologyRequirementsHVAC vocational, job-related experience and/or trade certificate(s).>3 years HVAC experience plus two years demonstrated troubleshooting experienceHigh school graduate or equivalent (Demonstrated industry knowledge and experience may be substituted)Ability to communicate services performed with customersEquipment-Specific Knowledge RequirementsFurnaces, HVAC/R, cooling towers, controls, CRAC units, BMS, VAV systemsTechnical Knowledge RequirementsHVAC/R systems and installations, the ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematicsDuctwork, sheet metal construction, refrigerant managementCertificationsUniversal CFC CertificationPreferred QualificationsHVAC/R degree / certificate or equivalentPhysical RequirementsLiftingBending, climbing, pulling, pushing, balancing, kneeling, twisting and standingPerform service and repair functions from ladders and overheadCarry and set up ladders up to 32 ft. in height (step or extension) as requiredClimbing stairs, ladders, catwalks, etc.Work from mechanical lifts**Piedmont Service Group is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
