Head Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD

Alpha operates on a two-hour learning framework. Morning sessions use adaptive applications to deliver academic content, freeing your schedule for the work that truly transforms children: coaching, motivation, accountability, and life skills development. You directly manage a cohort of K-3 students and simultaneously coach the Guides—Alpha's term for the adults who inspire and guide the children—who oversee their daily advancement. Your role is hands-on each day, not administrative from a separate office. Your typical day rotates among three core activities. You analyze performance data and Coachbot analytics to identify students and Guides who need support. You conduct targeted coaching sessions that equip people with concrete next actions rather than generic affirmation. And you lead workshops for groups of five- to nine-year-olds on subjects like public speaking, concentration, or how to give and receive feedback. When you identify effective approaches, you document them. The playbooks you create set the benchmark that every other Guide applies, so your influence extends from your own cohort to the entire grade level. What You Will Be Doing Using performance data, classroom observation, and direct feedback to coach both Guides and students, then maintaining accountability to measurable objectives for both groups Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, concentration, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and feedback exchange Conducting individual and small-group sessions that link each child's personal interests and goals to tangible academic achievement Developing and iterating on playbooks that convert your most effective practices into replicable systems other Guides can implement reliably Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands What You Won’t Be Doing Providing direct academic instruction or lecturing in a traditional format; adaptive apps handle content delivery while you focus on coaching people Reducing expectations in response to student difficulties Managing remotely like instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain embedded with your cohort every day Handling campus-wide budget, operations, and parent communications; a Campus Lead manages those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide results Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or adhering to standard K-12 curricula Head Coach Key Responsibilities Fulfill Alpha's three commitments to every K-3 student: they love school, learn at twice the typical rate, and develop exceptional life skills and independence. Basic Requirements Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; relocation assistance is provided Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or a related field At least 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged children (approximately ages 5 to 9) Experience leading a team of 5 or more people, with authority to hire and remove individuals based on performance results Experience building, launching, or substantially expanding a program, team, school, or initiative from inception, rather than taking over an established one Comfortable operating in a school environment that rejects traditional teaching methods Legally authorized to work in the United States Nice-to-have Requirements Master's degree in a related field Demonstrated history using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and produce measurable improvement Experience coaching or managing other adults to achieve measurable outcomes, beyond executing tasks independently Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation was a primary focus Proven ability and confidence facilitating or speaking publicly in front of large groups of young children About Alpha Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
