Registered Nurse Oncology

Position summary provides quality nursing care through the application of the nursing process using evidence based practice focusing on excellent outcomes and patient experience within the framework of shared governance. Primary position responsibilities include facilitating and coordinating total care, documentation of care, maintaining professional development, education of patient and family, patient advocate, maintaining patient safety, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum education: required bachelor’s degree in nursing. If an associate’s degree or diploma, must be enrolled in BSN program and completed within 4 years of hire.

Minimum years of experience (amount, type and variation): required two (2) years oncology clinical experience. Preferred: one year acute care experience; radiation oncology experience highly preferred.

License, registry or certification: required current NJ RN licensure and American Heart Association CPR certification. Preferred: certification in specialty - OCN or related certification.

Knowledge, skills and/or abilities: required skilled in applying the nursing process to address the physical, psychosocial and education needs of patient and families; excellent communication and critical thinking skills; strong computer skills; flexibility and ability to work independently; calm under pressure. Preferred: venipuncture skills. Familiarity with radiation oncology procedures, including but not limited to brachytherapy procedures.
