FT Refrigeration Mechanic

ADUSA Distribution is the distribution company of Ahold Delhaize USA, providing distribution services to one of the largest grocery retail supply chains in the nation. ADUSA Distribution receives, stores, manages inventory, and ships fresh and non‑perishable product throughout the network of local brand stores. Our facilities handle a mix of product types, including fresh, frozen, grocery and health and beauty items, and we are supporting the transition to an integrated self‑distribution model for leading omnichannel grocery brands including Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

As a refrigeration mechanic, you will be responsible for the safe operation and upkeep of our refrigeration systems—both Ammonia and Freon. You must be proficient with the computer monitoring system that adjusts and oversees equipment, understand the impact of operational and preventive maintenance tasks, and perform maintenance on all building equipment inside and outside the facility. Each mechanic is expected to perform high‑quality work safely, follow all safety rules, and work productively. Training will be offered and is necessary to stay current with your skill level and demonstrate ability to perform the work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enter work into the computer maintenance system throughout the shift and use it to view repeat repairs and previous work on equipment. Monitor and adjust the refrigeration systems (Ammonia and Freon) to maintain a safe and efficient process using the refrigeration maintenance system. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on refrigeration equipment as needed. Ensure all equipment meets standards, codes, and regulatory requirements. Conduct daily walks to verify system safety and perform repairs or schedule outside contractor work as required. Maintain code compliance through replacement schedules. Update PSM documentation as required. Be available for on‑call duty when coverage is not present, possibly using a beeper. Recommend modifications to procedures or processes that increase efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in accuracy, safety, and productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work flexible hours and be on‑call as necessary. Mechanical and electrical aptitude. Schematic and blueprint reading skills. Mechanics must supply their own tools. Certified and follow EAP for PSM.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

High school education.

Dexterity with both hands. Resourceful in resolving complex problems and issues. Effective and collaborative communication with team members. Ability to work in difficult body positions and challenging environmental conditions from time to time. Willingness to work flexible hours and be on‑call if required.
