OR RN (Circulator) Job Breakdown

Shift: Day 3x12s (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hrs/week
Schedule: 3 shifts/week (Monday–Friday) + weekend shift and/or call as needed (1–2 weekends per month)
Charting: Epic (recent experience within last 12 months required)

Core Responsibilities

• Circulating Surgical Cases: ~22–24 hrs/week
  Provide perioperative nursing care and circulate a wide variety of surgical procedures.
• Specialty Surgery Support: ~8–10 hrs/week
  Assist in Endovascular, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Gynecology, Urology, and Robotic procedures.
• Patient Preparation & Recovery Coordination: ~3–4 hrs/week
  Pre-op verification, patient positioning, specimen handling, and post-op handoff.
• Documentation & Team Collaboration: ~3–4 hrs/week
  Epic charting, surgeon communication, and coordination with anesthesia and surgical teams.

Key Requirements

• 2+ years OR RN experience
• AHA BLS required
• NIH required
• Recent Epic experience (within last 12 months)
• Must be comfortable circulating across multiple specialties
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted

Required Surgical Experience

• Endovascular
• General Surgery
• Orthopedics
• Neurosurgery (including craniotomies)
• Gynecology
• Urology
• Robotics
• Laparoscopic Procedures

Not required: Cardiovascular Surgery (CVOR)

Scheduling & Call

• 3x12-hour day shifts (7a–7p)
• Weekend shifts and/or call required as needed
• Typically 1–2 weekends per month
• Holiday coverage required if needed
• Block scheduling not guaranteed

Candidates should be flexible, comfortable in a fast-paced OR environment, and capable of circulating everything from craniotomies to minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures.
