RN - Emergency Department (ER/ED)

Travelers should expect their assignments to include and may consist primarily of admitted patients. No RQI certifications accepted. NM license can pend at time of submission. Travel experience strongly preferred, however if traveler has 2+ years Level 1 experience, client may consider. 36 or 48 hour shifts. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department is admitted, and many of the ED rooms are "ED Holding". Level 1 trauma experience is preferred.

Medication administration, including IV medication via the seven medication rights; document and communicate clinical findings. Bar Code medication scanning is an expectation of all employees.

Years of experience required: 2 years. Will review for 1.5 years; Level I trauma preferred. First-timers accepted: Yes, but travel experience strongly preferred, however if traveler has 2+ years Level 1 experience, client may consider.

Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC. Must have TNCC prior to submission.

Weekends required: Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed. Weekend days constitute Saturday and Sunday, weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Float required: Floating to adult PCUs is an expectation. Many are for Med Surg patients on PCU. This is done based on staffing needs and availability both of the ED, and of the rest of the hospital. This includes specialty needs of the ED, such as Trauma and Triage trained nursing to staff those specific areas.

Guaranteed hours: Contracted hours (36/48/40) per week, facility is allowed to call off 3x throughout a 13-week assignment.

New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks. 6 month break is required for any travelers that have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached their one year mark, whichever comes first.
