Soil Technician – CLAD Consulting, Inc. Clad Consulting, Inc. is seeking multiple Soil Technicians to join our growing team for a large-scale infrastructure project to support underground construction across roadways, highways, and municipalities throughout California and parts of Nevada. This is a hands‑on, field-focused role where you'll play a critical part in collecting and documenting soil samples while supporting essential projects that impact communities. As a Soil Technician, you’ll be boots‑on‑the‑ground – operating field equipment, coordinating with construction and utility crews, and ensuring accurate data collection and reporting across active project sites. If you are someone that has prior sampling or environmental experience or related education, and looking for a field-based opportunity, this could be the role for you! Why Join our Team? Full‑time opportunity with competitive pay, full benefits, and a company vehicle. Be part of projects that shape essential infrastructure across California. Work with a supportive team that values safety, accountability, and collaboration. Gain hands‑on training and exposure. Position Summary As a Soil Technician, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, traveling, and being part of a professional field operations team. Your responsibilities will include: Collect soil samples in accordance with project‑specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Operate handheld XRF (X‑Ray Fluorescence) analyzers to screen soil for metals, including lead. Identify locations where soil sampling is required based on excavation activities and project requirements. Accurately document sampling locations, GPS coordinates, photographs, and field observations. Complete field reports, chain‑of‑custody forms, and daily documentation. Package, label, and prepare environmental samples for laboratory analysis. Coordinate daily sampling activities with construction and utility crews. Maintain, inspect, and calibrate field equipment. Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures. Travel throughout California and work day or night shifts as project needs require. Export and organize field data using Microsoft Excel. Complete daily field documentation and project tracking using Microsoft Forms. Prepare reports, summaries, and project documentation using Microsoft Word. Communicate effectively with project managers and field personnel using Microsoft Teams. Ideal Candidate We’re looking for a dependable, detail‑oriented individual who is comfortable operating in active construction and utility environments. The ideal candidate takes pride in accurate field documentation, follows established procedures with consistency, and communicates effectively with project managers and field crews. Whether you’re new to environmental fieldwork or bringing prior experience, a willingness to learn and work flexible shifts is what sets you apart. Your experience may include: High school diploma or GED required. Previous construction, utility, environmental, geotechnical, or field experience preferred. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and lift up to 50 pounds. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and mobile applications. Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Willingness to travel for extended periods as project needs require. Demonstrated ability to lead crews, influence behavior, and enforce safety standards in the field. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to engage directly with field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Knowledge of underground construction methods and jobsite safety practices. Proficient in related computer software and technologies including Microsoft Office Suite. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus. Ability to travel onsite daily through various locations throughout California and/or parts of Nevada. These are full‑time positions requiring travel to various sites throughout California and parts of Nevada. We are looking for candidates in various locations including Sacramento, Petaluma, Sonoma, Inland Empire, and/or Riverside. The hours of work will vary based on project location and may require day or night work. The reasonable pay range is between $25.00 to $33.00 per hour, depending on experience. We offer company‑provided benefits including health insurance, vacation, sick and holiday pay, 401k, and a company‑provided vehicle. Apply today to be considered for immediate project needs and future roles supporting our expanding infrastructure work. *We are an equal opportunity employer and provide equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law.
