Senior Underwriting Assistant

We are looking for a Senior Underwriting Assistant to join our Team! Under moderate supervision, this position supports the underwriting team in providing efficient and accurate handling of the technical aspects of the underwriting process. Provides administrative support to multiple underwriters and completing administrative tasks to expedite the underwriting process. This can include policy processing and issuance for new business and/or renewal preparation, quoting and issuance; endorsement processing; cancellations; and/or other policy processing associated tasks. May potentially hold a limited Letter of Underwriting Authority. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.

This position is a hybrid work schedule 3 days in office 2 days remote in our Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX office.

Responsibilities

1. Provides instruction to processing department for new and renewal accounts 2. Provides instruction to processing department for endorsement requests. 3. Processes endorsements that are tasked to be handled within the Underwriting Department. 4. Fulfills brokers requests for, loss runs, copies of policies, copies of invoicing, etc. 5. Provides agency support of general questions regarding renewal status, endorsement status, cancellation status, billing inquires, commission questions, etc. 6. Requoting within current systems as needed with requotes limited to adjustment of credits, debits, or deductibles or any requotes that can be completed within set time frame. 7. Communicates effectively with internal and external contacts 8. Completes renewal proposals as requested. 9. Manually rates coverages and/or policies that are not fully automated. 10. Handles full renewal process as allowed by Letter of Authority. 11. Completes file documentation according to best practices guidelines. 12. Responds to agent service questions and handles problems and service issues to a satisfactory resolution. 13. Follow up on outstanding issues (i.e. loss control recommendations, etc) 14. Supports the Underwriters in their activities as needed. 15. Keeps current with market trends and demands. 16. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Have the knowledge and skills needed to underwrite Workers' Compensation, Property, General liability, Auto, and Umbrella lines of business.
• 2-3 Years P&C insurance work experience.
• Proven team player and energetic personality.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet productivity deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a desire to learn.
• Ability to provide information in a clear, concise manner with an appropriate level of detail, empathy, and professionalism.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
• Effective analytical skills to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions.

The expected salary range for this role is $25-33.00/hr.
