Clinical Research Biopsy Coordinator

Job Summary The Clinical Research Biopsy Coordinator I (Biopsy CRC) works closely with the clinical research study teams to coordinate and process biopsy specimens for clinical research subjects. This role supports both BWH and MGH academic medical centers and requires on‑site presence at either location depending on need. The primary responsibility is to schedule tissue procurement within trial timelines and ensure tissue processing follows laboratory manual specifications. Additional duties include sample management, local transport, packaging for shipment, and quality assurance. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Have comprehensive knowledge of all assigned protocols. Utilize protocol‑specific flow charts, intake sheets, and other tools to ensure compliance and proper data acquisition. Coordinate and communicate biopsy appointments with physicians, nurses and test areas in a timely manner. Coordinate, obtain, process, and ship required tissue samples (including specific packaging and handling). Maintain accurate patient research files and records of sample procurement. Coordinate location of specific study supplies and utilize study supplies as required. Assist primary CRA of each study with data management tasks as needed. Assist with quality assurance review of biopsy/tissue data. May assist with or perform other tasks related to biopsy collections for Cancer Center Investigator tissue procurement projects. May participate in phone contact with study participants as delegated by Research Nurses. Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Work independently and as a team member. Analytical skills and problem‑resolution ability. Knowledge of medical terminology. Proficiency with computer applications to maintain accurate databases. Correctly perform tissue handling tasks described in written instructions and SOPs. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations None required. Education BA/BS degree required. Experience None required. Some relevant research project work (0–1 year) preferred. Working Conditions Ambulatory office, infusion unit, and interventional radiology procedure areas. On‑site duties at both BWH and MGH locations as needed.
