This unit includes both step-down and floor patients, allowing for a variety of care experiences. The nursing unit is recognized for its high-impact and fast-paced environment, demanding top-level practice from nurses. Common patient conditions include multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, complex spinal cord injuries, and various surgical needs. Experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, and respiratory support is essential. Nurses will collaborate with various services including care management, surgical and medical services, and rehabilitation services. Ratios are maintained at 1:6 for floor patients and 1:3 for step-down patients. Weekend and holiday work is expected as part of the schedule. Floating to similar units is required. The role may involve monitoring patients and interpreting cardiac strips. Royal blue scrub color is required for this position.
