Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: RN License in state of Texas or compact Certifications: Current BLS certification required (AHA only) Must-Have: 2 years of experience in related nursing specialty preferred Description: The competent nurse practices independently in the clinical setting. Demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides both routine and complex care. Develops long-range goals and plans. Continues to enhance the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means of managing the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with the standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. Includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers. Identifies issues and resources related to patient care. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is essential.
