Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Less than 1 year with direct patient care preferred License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Compact Multi-state Certifications: BLS, PALS, TNCC, ACLS, or equivalent certifications Must-Have: - Ability to read, write, and speak English - Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills - Customer service orientation - Ability to function in a fast-paced environment - Excellent time management skills - Strong critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for practice is steered by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Exemplary Practice and Outcomes Performs the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Uses evidence-based practice and analytical thinking to ensure individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Partners with patients and significant others while keeping them updated and focused on their care goals. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration in a manner that promotes recruitment and retention within the healthcare team. Participates in performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders. Supports and participates in shared governance at all levels in the system. Professional Development and Initiative Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. Participates in activities related to the evaluation of patient care products. Upholds organizational policies and procedures ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Participates in data collection and uses evidence to address practice questions. Resources and Support Proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum of care. Participates in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
