Senior Accountant

Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support our accounting operations on a contract basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role. This position is in-office at our Downtown Tampa location and will play a key part in day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close activities, revenue recognition support, and project-based financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on experience with reconciliations and financial systems, and the ability to improve processes while collaborating effectively across teams. Key Responsibilities Own bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items Lead key components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers; identify and explain variances Support revenue recognition activities, including application of ASC 606, contract review support, and preparation/maintenance of revenue schedules (deferred/unbilled) as applicable Partner with finance leadership to improve revenue recognition documentation, internal controls, and close processes Assist with project-based accounting, including cost tracking, allocations, and job-level reporting where applicable Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed; ensure accurate coding and timely processing Work within QuickBooks, ConnectWise and NetSuite (or similar systems) to maintain accurate financial records Assist with audit readiness support, including organization of support, tie-outs, and responding to information requests Contribute to process improvements, SOPs, and documentation to strengthen scalability and consistency Experience with state sales tax nexus and using Avalara to review and file multiple state sales tax returns Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership while maintaining strong responsiveness and professional communication Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required CPA preferred (or active CPA candidate with strong progress toward completion) Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience (senior-level responsibilities preferred) Solid understanding of US GAAP; hands‑on revenue recognition experience and working knowledge of ASC 606 required Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar) Experience with accounting system implementation and/or process automation preferred Demonstrated ability to self-review work, resolve issues independently, and meet deadlines consistently Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly explain accounting conclusions and request needed information High attention to detail and strong organizational/time management skills Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities Why Join Us Opportunity to convert from contract to permanent employment in a growing organization Opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping strengthen and scale the accounting function Broad exposure to meaningful accounting work with visibility across leadership and cross‑functional teams #J-18808-Ljbffr Ascend Technologies Group
