Key Responsibilities

• Perform vascular, non-vascular, and/or neurointerventional procedures under general supervision.

• Exhibit basic clinical proficiency in various procedures across all patient demographics, selecting appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs. Administer contrast media in line with facility protocols and engage in procedure-related patient care and monitoring under physician guidance. Utilize sterile techniques and serve as either a scrub or circulating technologist as required.

• Engage in departmental and organizational initiatives aimed at improving workflows, enhancing patient experiences, and ensuring quality and safety. Actively participate in training and educational activities for students and staff.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including preparing patient rooms and managing supplies and inventory.

• Communicate effectively with patients to gather medical histories, address inquiries, and explain procedures to ensure understanding and comfort.

• Ensure the proper functioning of equipment by conducting quality control checks and promptly reporting any issues.

• Provide patient education and support, preparing patients for procedures and addressing their physical and emotional needs. Escalate concerns through appropriate channels as necessary.

• Manage patient flow and coordinate care through effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Document patient care activities in electronic health records and ensure timely distribution of final images to the PACS system for interpretation.

• Consistently demonstrate professionalism and uphold the organization’s values, fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for patients, families, and colleagues. Adhere to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.

• Follow departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and professional regulations.

• Take direction from leadership to maintain established protocols, ensure patient flow, and seek clarification when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree in radiologic technology is required; or

• A Vocational/Technical Diploma or Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or the Medical Education and Training Campus is required.

Experience

• Preferred: Six months of experience in an interventional radiology setting (e.g., Vascular Interventional Radiology, Neurointerventional Radiology, or Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory).

Licenses and Certifications

• Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of hire.

• Must hold a valid Radiologic Technologist license in the applicable state (Maryland or Virginia) upon hire.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification for healthcare providers, including BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), through either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, is required within 90 days of hire.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to perform or learn procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, embolizations, dilations, biopsies, fibrinolysis, venograms, and myelograms.

• Capability to function effectively in high-pressure and emergency situations.

• Understanding of cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.

• Basic computer skills, including data entry capabilities.

• Familiarity with computerized clinical information systems, including Clinicians View, Chart View, and PACS.

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies.

Compensation

This position offers a salary range of USD $35.68 - USD $58.84 per hour.
