Simulation Engineer
Randstad Engineering Solutions is looking for qualified Simulation Engineers to join our engineering team to develop the tooling and methods that enable autonomous system teams to understand their system's performance. Pittsburgh, PA and Peoria, IL would be ideal, but for the right candidate, remote could be possible.
Required Skills:
- Six (6) years of Electromagnetic compatibility testing (Immunity and Emissions)
- Working knowledge of the following Electromagnetic Compatibility testing equipment:
- Three (3) years minimum experience with the operation and the functionality of electrical and control systems of construction and construction equipment
Job Duties:
Indicate what the talent will be doing:
- Lead a team to provide machine-level EMC validation for Caterpillar products
- Coordinate multiple projects with long timelines
- Provide EMC consultation as a trusted adviser to internal clients on RF physics problems as well as EMC regulatory requirements
- Maintain an enterprise viewpoint concerning quality and risk
- Troubleshoot complex problems and provide expert support for EMC technicians and engineers doing the same
- Draw connection between machine-level test results and applicable system and component parts comprising the machine
- Ensure the team maintains: equipment calibration, ISO17025 certification status, quality, velocity, and cost metrics, as well as test availability at test sites across North America
- The Validation Lead Engineer is expected to provide technical leadership and potentially train new staff members as well as clients. Good communication is expected for technical status updates, design reviews, and when working closely with other internal and external teams in multiple geographic locations and organizations. Keeping up with industry and regulatory trends and new technology breakthroughs is essential and requires continuous learning and study.
- The individual will also be responsible for managing EMC machine test schedule, all test information databases and equipment calibration in accordance with all applicable standards. Certification testing can occur at Caterpillar’s Tucson Proving Ground, or at other sites outside the Peoria area. 10-25% travel may be required.
Job Requirements:
Develop high-quality electronic/electrical component product lines for engine and machine systems that meet complex requirements. Partner with internal product, system, and component clients to deliver products to customers and account for differences in various applications. Directs and participates in the concept and design of complex Electronic Components/Platforms projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Requires a bachelor’s degree (prefer a master’s degree) in an accredited Electrical Engineering curriculum and commensurate product development and project leadership experience.
Six (6) years of Electromagnetic compatibility testing (Immunity and Emissions) of electrical and electrical systems of large equipment in the construction and mining equipment, automotive or aerospace industries.
Working knowledge of the following Electromagnetic Compatibility testing equipment: EMI Receivers and spectrum analyzers, amplifiers, signal generators, antennas, electrostatic discharge simulators, Oscilloscopes, and electrometers.
Three (3) years minimum experience with the operation and the functionality of electrical and control systems of construction and construction equipment (or similar systems in automotive or aerospace industries)
Desired Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of Electromagnetic Compatibility International Standards ISO13766 and CISPR 12.
