Mechanic II - Fleet Services

Job Summary Reporting directly to the Shop Supervisor, responsible for routine and preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment and vehicles. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of vehicles and heavy equipment. Use scan tools and laptop for vehicle and medium‑heavy truck diagnostics. Repair air conditioning systems in automotive and trucks. Perform mechanical repairs such as replacement of pumps, radiators, alternators, etc. Operate hand, power, and shop tools and machinery (tire balancing, mount/dismount, alignment). Maintain shop facilities and equipment. Respond to service calls and assist in field vehicle repairs. Assist in locating mechanical parts and provide training to lower‑level mechanics. Collaborate with vendors, technical staff, and manufacturing representatives. Perform vehicle inspections for the State of Texas. Attend all trainings and meetings as required. Perform special duties as assigned. Organization Relationships Reports directly to – Shop Supervisor. Direct reports – none. Physical Demands Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and climbing ladders. Carry toolboxes and operate hand and power tools; lift up to 75 lbs. Bend, kneel, crawl, and maneuver around equipment; safe operation of motor vehicle. Environmental Factors Indoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weather. Travel between work sites, as required. Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus, and high noise levels. Irregular Hours Work outside normal office hours (Monday‑Friday 7:30 am – 4 pm) may be required. May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency. Regular attendance required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of vehicle and equipment maintenance experience; or equivalent combination education and experience. Prior experience with scan tools, shop gauges, and welding. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Basic computer skills such as email, word processing programs, and data entry. Ability to provide own hand tools. Licenses and Certifications Valid Class C driver’s license. Five certifications from OEM or ASE. Required Within Six Months of Employment Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). EPA Refrigerant Recovery and Recovery Certification.
