A 300 bed facility caring for nearly 13,000 patients each year with over 50,000 being treated in our emergency room. We offer a wide range of surgical services as well as specialty programs including Cardiac CTA, Digital Mammography, and Trauma Services.


Position Summary:

• Assures provision of optimum quality patient care by serving as reference and resource person for the staff, patient and family.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments.
• Assumes 24 hour responsibility for units' activities and evaluates the effectiveness of the staff and unit performance.
• Assesses units, patients and staff
• Plans for meeting the needs of the patient, staff, physicians, and hospital
• Performs prompt management duties for units under their supervision
• Initiates self development mechanisms for professional growth
• Delivers direct patient care appropriate to age of patient served

Reports to: VP/Chief Nursing Officer

QUALFIICATIONS

• Graduate from a School of Nursing / College Education Program. BSN or advanced education preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 6 months
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be obtained within 6 months
• Current licensure by the WV State Board of Nursing.
• Five years of nursing experience to include a minimum of one year nursing management experience.
• Prior OR experience
• Prior management experience over OR, Recovery, CSS, OPS, and Endo

• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
• Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
• Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
• Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
• A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
• Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.

Some of the most known areas if you enjoy the outdoors are Grandview National Park, New River Gorge National Park and bridge. Also known for white water rafting and many other trails and outdoor activities. Annual scout jamborees and every 4 years we hold the World Jamboree. Our hospital is the preferred hospital during these jamboree events.


While the area is considered to most as a small town, there is a lot of shopping and other activities in the area. Our people in this area and hospital community are known for being kind and courteous members of the community. We are about 3 hours from Charlotte, 4 hours from Pittsburg, and 5 hours from Washington DC. We are 1 hour from our largest city and capital of the state which is Charleston. The cost of living in our area is affordable and lower than the US average
