Production Manager

Opportunity The Production Manager is responsible for managing daily operations in a food manufacturing facility, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. Overseeing staffing, production, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company goals and regulatory standards. Essential Functions Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data. Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to the Senior Production Manager or Plant Manager for action. Fill in on floor if needed to ensure production timelines and KPI’s are achieved. Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables. Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct. Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates. (Food Safety Modernization Act- FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong understanding of HACCP principles and food safety standards. Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, GMP). Proven leadership and team management skills. Proficient in data analysis and problem-solving. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in manufacturing operations and continuous improvement practices.
