Clinical Laboratory Quality Analyst

Labcorp is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team at Birmingham, AL. This is an onsite position.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Job Responsibilities

• Provide monthly and quarterly quality metric data analysis and assist in generating metric reports
• Assist in training staff on quality related topics
• Act as a site administrator for document control and IQE applications in MediaLab
• Support all quality improvement efforts and the quality management system for the regional laboratory
• Schedule and conduct quality audits of assigned departments/facilities processes and provide audit reports
• Help facilitate external audits and inspections by the CAP, CMS, ISO 15189 and other agencies as needed
• Assist the laboratory with remaining inspection ready
• Participate in regulatory and accrediting agency inspections when needed
• Review of proficiency testing results
• Assist with investigations and corrective actions for nonconforming events and complaints including facilitating root cause analyses, effectiveness checks, FMEAs, and risk assessments
• Support change control processes
• Stay current with regulatory agency requirements
• Monitor the progress and usage of various electronic quality systems including competency, training, document control, nonconforming event, and metric tracking programs
• Participate in monthly Quality meetings and compose minutes
• Serve as a resource on regulatory issues and compliance
• Assist with licensure and accreditation applications/renewals
• Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 2 or more years of clinical laboratory testing experience in a CLIA/CAP laboratory

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 1 or more years of quality related experience in a CLIA/CAP laboratory

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Familiarity with an electronic data management system is a plus (i.e. MediaLab)
• General knowledge of laboratory regulations (CAP/CLIA/ISO) and licensing requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Basic understanding of audit related requirements and procedures
• Working knowledge of quality assurance best practices and procedures
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
