Senior Litigation Attorney / Partner (Chicago)

A well-established Midwest insurance defense firm is seeking a senior Transportation Litigation Attorney to join its Chicago office.

This search is focused on experienced litigators with approximately 7–8+ years of experience who are capable of independently managing sophisticated transportation matters while also serving as a mentor to junior attorneys.

The Chicago office is the firm's largest, with more than 70 attorneys and a nationally recognized transportation practice .

The firm moves efficiently and is typically able to take candidates from an initial conversation to a hiring decision within approximately two weeks.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex transportation litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft and argue dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions
• Handle hearings, mediations and trial preparation
• Develop litigation strategy and advise clients on high-exposure matters
• Mentor and supervise junior associates
• Work directly with clients, insurance carriers and claims professionals

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Illinois Bar admission
• Approximately 7–8+ years of litigation experience
• Strong insurance defense background
• Transportation/trucking litigation experience strongly preferred
• Product liability and construction litigation experience are a plus
• Proven ability to independently manage complex files
• Experience mentoring junior attorneys

Attorneys who have handled both plaintiff and defense work are welcome to apply, provided their most recent experience has been on the defense side. Career plaintiff attorneys are generally not the right fit for this opportunity.
