PositionSummary The Facilities and Maintenance Manager assuresoptimal functioning of the parish’s building and grounds in support of the Pastor’s initiatives and decisions regarding the mission and operation of the parish. Assists the Operations Director with stewardship of the physical resources of the parish in accordance with Archdiocesan policies, procedures and guidelines. Serves as project manager for facilities and maintenance projects as well as parish functions. Responsibilities

BUILDING MAINTENANCE

Primary contact for contractors and other vendors as it relates to facilities management. Under direction of Operations Directors, obtain bids on projects as requested. Provide input into annual budget and periodic forecasts as it pertains to facility and maintenance costs. Manage maintenance and custodial personnel. Performs annual evaluations of maintenance and custodial personnel. Responsible for security of parish grounds, contacting Pastor, Operations Director and local police department when needed as result of damage or vandalism to grounds. Assure optimal functioning of building systems, including fire/life, HVAC, lighting, mechanical and plumbing in all parish facilities. Oversee and perform maintenance service and repairs in the areas of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry and painting. Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed. Support snow removal needs to ensure safe conditions for parishioners, parish staff and school personnel, children and visitors. With Operations Director and/or Pastor approval, purchase materials required for facility and grounds upkeep.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Manages Parish projects – capital and operating – as it pertains to facilities and maintenance. Prepare schedules and written updates to management. Oversees set up and take down of parish functions and events. Oversees, assigns tasks and monitors work of volunteers. Performs other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Minimum of 5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience such as building maintenance and related systems. Knowledgeable in procedures and safety measures of facilities and grounds management. Basic knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing and electrical. Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand tools used on the job. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate to others in writing. Ability to communicate in spoken and written English. Familiarity with basic PC skills, email, internet and Microsoft products. Valid driver’s license. Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) highly preferred. Mental and Physical Essential Job Functions Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions Climb ladders and stairs, as necessary, including accessing roof structures up to 30’.
