HVAC Truck Based Mechanic Apprentice (union)

What you will do Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking talent to join our growing organization. You will provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. As a trusted advisor, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service and help our team work on some of the most exciting building automation technologies available today. How you will do it Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites. They will participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy, which develops skill sets for continued recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Apprentices will receive coaching and mentorship to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs. You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed, meet attendance requirements for required union training during the first year, and provide recommendations and quotes to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities. What we look for Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO. 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. General knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site. Self‑starter with the ability to eventually work independently. Prioritization of safety in all forms. Valid driver’s license. Preferred 1‑2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis. Pay Range $21‑$34 hourly rate, determined by the collective bargaining agreement and rate sheet. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role, but exceptional candidates who bring unique skills and experiences may receive compensation beyond the stated range.
