Aquatics Manager Full Time Callicoon, NY, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1081 Salary Range: $25.00 To $30.00 Hourly JOB DESCRIPTION Position Summary The Aquatics Manager oversees the daily operation, programming, staffing, and safety of the Resort's aquatics facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, spas, and water features. This is a working management role: in addition to supervising aquatics staff and coordinating operations, the Aquatics Manager personally instructs classes such as aqua aerobics, provides lifeguard coverage as needed, and is present on deck during peak periods. The Aquatics Manager develops and executes a full slate of aquatics programming for resort guests of all ages and ensures that all aquatics activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Company standards and applicable New York State health and safety regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The duties below describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as operational needs require. Programming and Instruction Develop, schedule, and execute a seasonal and year-round aquatics programming calendar, including aqua aerobics, group water-fitness classes, swim lessons, family and children's water activities, and special pool events. Personally lead aqua aerobics and other water-fitness or instructional sessions on a regular basis. Coordinate aquatics programming with the Recreation, Entertainment, and Food & Beverage teams for resort events and activities at the pool. Gather guest feedback and adjust programming to reflect demand, seasonality, and guest demographics. Safety and Lifeguarding Serve as a lifeguard and provide direct pool supervision and lifeguard coverage as scheduling and operational needs require. Maintain, communicate, and enforce all aquatics safety rules, bather-load limits, and posted regulations. Develop, maintain, and drill the aquatics Emergency Action Plan (EAP); lead emergency response, rescues, and first aid as needed. Ensure all required safety and rescue equipment is present, accessible, and in good condition. Complete and maintain incident reports, accident documentation, and required safety records. Staff Supervision Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards, instructors, and seasonal aquatics staff in coordination with Human Resources. Verify and track that all aquatics staff hold current and valid lifeguard, CPR/AED, and first aid certifications. Conduct regular in-service training, skills audits, and safety drills for aquatics staff. Manage daily staffing levels and shift coverage to maintain required supervision at all open aquatics facilities. Operations and Compliance Oversee daily opening, operation, and closing of aquatics facilities, including seasonal opening and winterization. Monitor water quality and coordinate with maintenance and pool-technician staff on water chemistry, filtration, and equipment, maintaining required daily logs and records. Ensure operations comply with the New York State Sanitary Code (10 NYCRR Subpart 6-1) and any Sullivan County Department of Health requirements applicable to the facilities. Assist with budget input, scheduling of supplies and equipment, and inventory of aquatics and programming materials. Respond to and resolve guest questions and concerns regarding aquatics facilities and programming, escalating as appropriate. Follow and enforce all Company health, safety, and conduct standards set forth in the Employee Handbook. Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Current Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or equivalent). Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (professional rescuer level). Demonstrated experience leading aqua aerobics or group water-fitness instruction. Prior experience supervising or leading aquatics staff in a pool, resort, club, or similar setting. Ability to develop and manage programming and schedules and to maintain accurate operational and safety records. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak summer season. Preferred Qualifications Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and/or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification, or willingness to obtain it promptly. Group-fitness or aquatic-fitness instructor credential (e.g., AEA or equivalent). Experience in a large resort, hotel, or multi-pool aquatics operation. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions With or without reasonable accommodation, this position requires the ability to: Swim proficiently and perform water rescues, including entering the water and removing a person in distress. Lead and demonstrate water-fitness movements for extended periods. Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather, including heat, sun, and humidity. Stand, walk, sit in elevated lifeguard positions, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the shift. Lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Maintain constant visual attention and respond quickly in emergency situations. Licensing and Regulatory Note New York State regulates public and semi-public swimming pools and spas under the State Sanitary Code (10 NYCRR Subpart 6-1), which addresses supervision, operator training, bather safety, and recordkeeping. Because the Aquatics Manager is the senior on-site aquatics role, the Company should confirm whether this position is the designated qualified operator for one or more facilities and, if so, require the corresponding certification (such as CPO or AFO) as a condition of the role rather than a preference. The required level of direct lifeguard supervision and any qualified-supervisor requirements should be verified against the current code and with the Sullivan County Department of Health. [Confirm operator designation, supervision requirements, and required certifications with operations leadership before posting.] Powered by #J-18808-Ljbffr
