Job Title: Lowboy Driver Location: On the Road (Lodging and Per Diem provided) Compensation Range: $26.00/hr - $36.00/hr Other Compensation: Eligible for overtime Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off About the Role The Lowboy Driver plays a critical role in supporting field operations by safely transporting heavy equipment to and from disaster response and environmental remediation sites. This position reports into the fleet and logistics organization and works closely with equipment operators, site supervisors, and project leadership. The role does not manage direct reports but is essential to keeping projects operational, compliant, and on schedule. Success in the first 12 months looks like consistently safe equipment transport, proactive communication with field teams, strong DOT compliance, and the ability to adapt quickly in fast‑paced, emergency response environments. Responsibilities Safely operate lowboy trailers to transport heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and other machinery. Load, secure, and unload equipment following DOT regulations and company safety standards. Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and report maintenance or safety issues promptly. Coordinate with field supervisors and dispatch to ensure timely equipment delivery and pickup. Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and required documentation. Navigate rural, urban, and disaster‑impacted areas safely and efficiently. Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. Support rapid deployment needs during emergency response operations. Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned tractor and trailer. Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Minimum of 3 years of experience operating lowboy or heavy haul equipment. Clean driving record with demonstrated commitment to safety. Proven ability to safely load, secure, and transport heavy equipment. Working knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and route planning. Must be willing to travel 85%+ with extended time on the road; this is not a home‑based role and requires working across rotating project locations (lodging provided). Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting disaster response or emergency operations. Familiarity with construction, demolition, or environmental services equipment. Tanker or additional CDL endorsements. Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment or trailers. What to Expect This role is field‑based and fast‑paced, often supporting time‑sensitive emergency response operations. Work schedules may vary and can include long hours, nights, weekends, and extended travel depending on project needs. You will work closely with field crews and leadership under dynamic conditions, frequently in areas impacted by natural disasters. Safety, communication, and adaptability are essential, as conditions can change rapidly and require immediate response. Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to climb on and off trailers and equipment. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and challenging field conditions. Willingness to wear PPE including hard hat, protective eyewear, steel‑toed boots, and high‑visibility clothing.
