Bus Driver & Maintenance

Job Opportunity

Suttons Bay Public Schools is seeking a full-time, year-round Bus Driver and Maintenance employee to join our team. This dual-role position requires a hard-working, self-motivated person with a positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. Training will be provided, and the district will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL license, including the required endorsements.

Groundskeeper Responsibilities:

• Maintain school grounds, including mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, and leaf removal.
• Perform seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, salting, and landscaping.
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect outdoor areas, playgrounds, and athletic fields for safety and cleanliness.
• Assist with outdoor event setup and minor facility maintenance as needed.
• Report repair needs or safety concerns promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Bus Driver Responsibilities:

• Conduct pre-trip inspections and address maintenance concerns.
• Fuel and clean the bus as needed.
• Assist students with seating, assistive devices, and safety concerns.
• Provide direction to bus aides and manage student behavior.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and students.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a background check and MDE physical (annually).
• Must obtain a CDL with B, P, and S classification and Air Brake endorsements (district covers cost).
• Must meet Michigan Department of Education and DOT requirements for driving performance and drug/alcohol testing.

Position Details:

• Schedule: Monday Friday, 6:45 a.m.12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.4:15 p.m. (approximately)
