About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Saturday Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 24 months of current Oncology experience License: Active Texas or Compact license Certifications: Active American Heart Association BLS certification; ONS chemotherapy biotherapy provider certificate Must-Have: EPIC Beacon and Chemotherapy Infusion experience Description: The RN is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery focused on specific patient populations and health conditions. The RN assesses patients and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. They develop and implement individualized plans of care and evaluate patient responses. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without complications or delays. They delegate interventions to healthcare personnel based on patient condition and employee competencies. The RN serves as a patient advocate, focusing on patient needs, rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences. They provide educational information and training to patients and family members. The RN performs appropriate patient assessments and provides safe medication administration. They complete accurate and timely documentation in patient care records. The RN educates patients and families on cancer care, therapies, treatment side effects, and prevention. They serve as a preceptor or trainer for newer nursing staff and may serve as a Charge Nurse as needed. The RN acts as a role model for oncology nursing and serves as a resource to unit nurses.
