This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment. The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes for large form-factor assemblies, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.Design and optimize assembly workstations, jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve ergonomics, efficiency, and product quality.Conduct process capability studies, and root cause analysis to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve overall production output.Collaborate with design engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless product introduction and resolve manufacturing issues.Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to drive operational excellence.Create and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.Train production personnel on new processes, equipment, and quality standards.Evaluate and implement new technologies and automation solutions to enhance assembly processes.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and cost, and report on progress.Troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing problems on the production floor.Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring smooth transition from design to high-volume manufacturing for large assemblies.Drive the Manufacturing Execution System configurationMay perform other duties and responsibilities as assignedJob Qualifications And Knowledge RequirementsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.Experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on large form-factor assembly processes.Proven experience with process development, optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing fixtures and tooling.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis.Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is a plus.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Knowledge of industry quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).Experience with automation and robotics in assembly processes is highly desirable.Strong communication skillsProficiency in use Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD skills required.The pay range for this role is $79,400 - $142,900.
