Certified Surgical Technologist

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support surgical education and patient care in an academic health center. The CST will prepare and maintain sterile fields, select and arrange instruments, and assist surgeons and residents during procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, managing supplies and equipment, accurately performing counts, and supporting simulation and teaching labs. The role works closely with faculty, residents, nurses, and students, contributing to a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence in surgical education and clinical practice. Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical and teaching procedures Select, organize, and manage surgical instruments and supplies Assist surgeons, residents, and students during operative procedures Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control standards Perform and document instrument, sponge, and needle counts Operate and troubleshoot basic surgical equipment Support simulation labs and educational surgical demonstrations Collaborate with nurses, faculty, and residents to ensure safe care Maintain accurate records and adhere to MUSC policies Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives Surgical instrumentation Aseptic technique Operating room procedures Patient positioning Sterile field setup Intraoperative assistance Surgical equipment operation Instrument sterilization Surgical counting protocols Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program BLS/CPR certification Compliance with state and hospital credentialing requirements #J-18808-Ljbffr ACHE
