Job Title: CNC Machine Operator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machine Operator to join a busy production team. In this role, you set up, operate, and maintain CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications and quality standards. You play a key role in ensuring components are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and safely in a fast-paced machine shop environment.

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce high-quality precision components according to specifications.
• Interpret and follow technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and detailed work instructions.
• Monitor machine operations continuously and make adjustments to tooling, offsets, and settings to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting of equipment issues.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
• Identify and resolve machining problems, including surface finish issues, dimensional deviations, and tooling wear.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
• Follow established quality control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of machining processes.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals and deadlines.
• Document work as required, including recording measurements, machine settings, and production counts.
• Support training and knowledge sharing with colleagues to promote consistent and efficient machine operation.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills for production machining.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and materials used in a machine shop.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, technical blueprints, and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for part inspection.
• Familiarity with quality control standards and basic inspection techniques in a production setting.
• High attention to detail with a focus on producing accurate, consistent, and high-quality parts.
• Effective problem-solving skills to diagnose and correct machining and equipment issues.
• Ability to work safely in a noisy, fast-paced machine shop environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Technical training or certification in CNC machining is preferred.
• Experience with multi-spindle screw machines is an advantage.
• Knowledge of G-code and basic CNC programming is preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is beneficial.
• Comfort working with oils, coolants, and typical machine shop materials.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with production teams and supervisors.
• Willingness to train on first shift before moving to second shift as needed.

This position is based in a traditional machine shop environment with active CNC lathes and mills. The work area is noisy due to ongoing machine operation, and you can expect to work with oils, coolants, and metal materials, which may result in getting dirty during normal duties. The role follows structured shifts: first shift operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and second shift operates Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with second shift employees training on first shift for approximately 1–2 months. You work on the production floor with standard industrial safety practices and attire appropriate for a machine shop, including protective equipment as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
