Software Engineer (Agent)

The Role You will be the first dedicated Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Parakeet. You’ll have no playbook – you’ll create it. Your day will revolve around customer calls, prototyping, and rapid deployment of solutions that span patient scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, and more. A Day In Your Life Morning: Join a call with a new eyecare customer and map out their appointment recall rules. Late morning: Configure a multi‑specialty medical group’s eClinicalWorks integration and test a fix in their sandbox. After lunch: Conduct a weekly sync with a large dermatology group; prototype a solution for voice‑mail triage and demo it live. End of day: Review customer insights with the engineering team, demo your prototype, and decide which elements become permanent features. Your First Six Months Month 1: Shadow senior engineers on customer onboarding, learn scheduling rules, and familiarize yourself with EHR integrations. Month 3: Lead end‑to‑end deployments, scope workflows, customize agents, and iterate until a practice is fully live. Month 6: Mentor new FDEs, prototype next‑generation features, and influence the product roadmap. You may also support pre‑sales demos for enterprise deals. You work without a dedicated PM or detailed Jira tickets. Handle routine tasks without ego and embrace the unglamorous work that keeps the system running. Requirements 1‑3 years of engineering experience. Comfort writing across the full stack – frontend, backend, integrations. Experience with Python is a plus. Has shipped real features, engaged with users, and made autonomous decisions. Interview Process 30‑minute founder intro call. 1‑hour technical phone screen focusing on a evolving challenge. Full‑day onsite in San Francisco working through real customer problems.
