Microsoft Systems Administrator Senior

Overview The System Administrator is responsible for providing thoughtful leadership to a broad range of IT disciplines including system performance and resiliency, network performance, security administration, and operations in physical/virtual, Cloud Windows and Linux environments. The role is hands‑on, installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting servers and software. Local Candidate Only: This is a hybrid opportunity and must be able to come to the North Palm Beach, Florida office 1 or 2 days a week. Responsibilities Adhere to all Service Request, Incident, and Change Management policies and procedures. Work with leadership to identify project requirements and assist and lead project teams. Address complex technical issues and offer solutions supporting the enterprise. Participate in overall support rotation. Perform system and tool checks daily to verify the integrity, performance, and availability of servers and resources in physical/virtual and Cloud environments. Assist Systems Administrators as required. Research and recommend innovative, automated approaches for administration tasks. Lead troubleshooting and problem‑solving efforts involving outside vendors and support personnel. Conduct ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization. Monitor capacity and assist with short and long‑term capacity planning. Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system‑management tools. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale. Assist with security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing. Verify that backup, replication, and testing operations are functioning correctly. Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Participate in the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities. Other Duties Identify and gather data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Perform on‑call responsibilities and after‑hours duties as necessary. Create and maintain detailed technical support and process documentation. Security and Privacy Duties and Responsibilities Individuals working for DSS will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800‑53. Employees may also be required to complete specific FedRAMP training and advanced training based on role and level of access. Qualifications (Required Skills) 8+ years of experience administering Windows Server operating systems. 2+ years of experience administering servers and services in Azure/AWS Cloud. Comprehensive working knowledge of Linux operating systems, especially process and system monitoring facilities. Ability to analyze and tune performance issues using industry‑standard monitoring and reporting tools. Experience with server and application remediation to meet security scan compliance (e.g., Nessus, WASA, Pen). WAN and LAN configuration and troubleshooting skills. Enterprise backup and recovery procedures knowledge. Knowledge of system performance monitoring tools. Experience administering AWS Cloud services and Cisco UCS blade installation and management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with installation and configuration of monitoring tools and on‑call support. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Excellent technical documentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate information to non‑technical staff. Preferred Skills Fluency in a scripting language, shell scripting, and object‑oriented programming languages. Experience developing automation tools and frameworks for performance measurement and analysis. Project management expertise. Education Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science. Years of Experience in a Similar Role 8+ years of experience administering Windows Server operating systems. 2+ years of experience administering servers and services in Azure/AWS Cloud.
