Mathematics, Full-Time Faculty

Job Overview Paul D. Camp Community College seeks a full‑time mathematics faculty member to teach primarily at its Franklin, Suffolk, and Smithfield campuses, with additional online course options. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and workforce training programs. Teaching Load Full‑time faculty are required to teach 15–20 contact hours per semester, with a weekly student contact requirement of 10 hours. Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekends as needed. Responsibilities Teaching Create learning environments that facilitate students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills. Implement instructional design, delivery, effectiveness, and expertise. Scholarly and Creative Engagement Participate in scholarly or creative activities such as conference attendance, presentations, professional organizations, academic coursework, research, publications, and grant activities. Institutional Responsibility Participate in the college’s development and evaluation plan for part‑time teaching faculty. Attend required department, committee, and college meetings. Adhere to college and VCCS policies. Maintain collegial relationships with faculty and staff. Service Represent the college and engage in college citizenship and community citizenship activities. Special Assignments May be required to perform additional duties as assigned, including assistance during emergency declarations by the Governor. Qualifications Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics. Teaching experience. Ability to design and implement curricula aligned with student learning goals. Ability to develop and adapt teaching strategies for diverse student populations and varying academic competencies. Knowledge of effective mathematics instruction through distance learning. Proficiency in using technology for communication, data organization, course materials, and presentations. Ability to use formative and summative assessment to evaluate and enhance student learning. Knowledge of proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to continual learning and improvement in the discipline. Additional Considerations Full‑time teaching experience. Community college or four‑year college teaching experience. Experience with alternative delivery methods, including online, hybrid, and Hyflex courses, content software, and web enhancements. Knowledge of academic advising. Willingness to incorporate AI into mathematics education. Experience integrating technology into teaching.
