Job Title Summary Job Title: Groundskeeper Division: Fiscal Affairs Reports To: Director, Groundskeeping Positions Supervised: N/A FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary The groundskeeper is responsible for managing the landscaping requirements of assigned areas by maintaining cleanliness, pruning, and ensuring the campus grounds remain orderly. Job Responsibilities Manage and maintain campus vegetation: mowing, pruning, trimming, staking trees and shrubs, and detailing flowerbeds and other landscape elements. Remove trash, debris, and other refuse to keep campus grounds clean. Prepare grounds for seasonal climate changes by pruning tree/bushes and distributing fertilizer. Adhere to strict safety standards and practices. Control vegetation pests and weeds using pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals. Excavate holes and trenches for installation of lights, sprinklers, and other equipment. Remove debris from mulched areas and flowerbeds. Plant seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation in designated areas. Repair and adjust tools, machinery, and equipment. Support university mission and serve as an ambassador of a culture of service excellence. Respond to customer needs promptly and courteously. Assist with special events, including setup, event security, and cleanup. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Demonstrated experience in the grounds industry, with extensive knowledge of common practices and related tools, equipment, and materials. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to execute multiple tasks according to specifications. Strong professional integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Capability to use good judgment and think critically. Work Environment Campus grounds exposure to all types of weather and extreme temperatures. Physical Abilities Traverse in all weather conditions. Squat and reach. Lift up to 50 pounds. Stand and walk continuously throughout the shift. Climb stairs and ladders.
