SALARY RATE: Negotiable (Annual Salary) based on the Full Time Employment

JOB DUTIES: The Ultrasound/Vascular Multiple Modality Specialist produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs and performs a variety of diagnostic procedures, using high frequency ultrasound, doppler, and/or physiologic pressure equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of disease, study of malfunction of organs and/or disorders of the circulatory system. The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays and may require standby and call back duty.


THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) (Relevant substitutions allowed).

EXPERIENCE :

• Specialized Work Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience as a specialist of which at least a minimum of one (1) year of work experience must have been gained in each of the two (2) modalities: ultrasound and vascular in a clinical or hospital environment.

CERTIFICATION :

• Advanced certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment.

Substitution for Education:


SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION:

1. Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology with a certificate or associate degree and two (2) years of professional Radiologic experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.

2. Excess work experience as described under the Imaging or Specialized Experience Requirement which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Excess work experience as described under the Specialized Experience Requirement may be substituted for Imaging Experience on a year-for-year basis.

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must meet the health and physical requirements deemed necessary to effectively and safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
