Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist

Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the local community. They are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their collaborative Finance team as the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist in a temp-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential.Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hrPosition Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist to support the Finance department with high-volume accounts payable processing and general accounting functions. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone with strong AP experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a mission-driven organization.Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Process high-volume accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Review, code, and enter invoices into the accounting system.
- Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
- Ensure timely vendor payments and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain organized AP records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end closing activities and other accounting functions as needed.
- Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to resolve payment issues.
- Support the Controller and the Finance team with additional accounting projects.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist:
- 3+ years of high-volume accounts payable experience.
- Experience with invoice coding and three-way matching.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar ERP system).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant/Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Bookkeeping experience with a strong focus on accounts payable.
- Previous experience working in a nonprofit organization.
- Staff accounting experience.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
