About the Role:

The OTR (Over-the-Road) Driver plays a critical role in the transportation and warehousing industry by safely and efficiently transporting goods across long distances throughout the United States. This position requires the driver to operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles, ensuring timely delivery while adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations. The role demands strong navigation skills, the ability to manage schedules, and maintain communication with dispatch and clients to provide updates on shipment status. The OTR Driver is responsible for inspecting their vehicle before and after trips to ensure safety and compliance with maintenance standards. Ultimately, this role contributes to the seamless supply chain operations by delivering products reliably and professionally across diverse routes and conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with appropriate endorsements.
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable OTR driving experience.
• Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years.
• Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
• Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
• Excellent understanding of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques, along with strong knowledge of DOT regulations. 
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet delivery deadlines while adhering to strict hours-of-service limitations. 
• Physical stamina to perform duties, which may include lifting, climbing, prolonged periods of sitting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience driving in diverse weather and road conditions across the United States.

Responsibilities:

• Operate commercial motor vehicles (tractor trailer combinations) to transport goods over long distances across various states.
• Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency and travel time.
• This may involve traveling for several days or even weeks at a time. 
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other stakeholders to provide updates and resolve any issues during transit.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure safe operation of the vehicle.
• Manage loading and unloading of cargo when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight.
• Report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Securely load and unload cargo using appropriate methods to prevent damage. May involve operating forklifts or other material handling equipment in some cases.
