Data Protection Automation & App Security Engineer

Salary: $128,960 - 135,200 per year Requirements:

• At least four years of professional experience in cybersecurity, software development, computer engineering, application security, or a related technical field.
• Strong hands-on programming skills in Python and JavaScript, plus practical experience with Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with enterprise data security technologies such as DLP, CASB, SASE, DSPM, PAM, or comparable platforms; endpoint security; and security-focused software development.
• Practical experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, APIs, and Docker or other containerization technologies.
• Strong knowledge of encryption and hashing, secure cryptographic practices, authentication and authorization, secrets management, vault technologies, salting, and risks associated with weak hashing algorithms.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Must be local to the Plano, Texas area and able to work onsite three days per week.
• Must meet the specified U.S. work authorization requirements. OPT EAD and CPT EAD candidates are not eligible under the stated requirements.
• An active LinkedIn profile must be included with the application.
• Must be able to complete an onsite Python coding assessment.
• Preferred: experience building cybersecurity applications, advanced Python automation, API integrations, KPI/KRI reporting, Agile development, and large-scale global enterprise security programs.
• Preferred: a relevant cybersecurity certification, such as Security+, CEH, CISSP, OSCP, CISM, CISA, GPEN, or GWAPT.
• Preferred: a stable professional history with increasing responsibility in security engineering or secure software development.

• Develop scalable applications, automation, and security tools for enterprise data protection initiatives.
• Build security-focused software using Python, JavaScript, and object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, or C#.
• Engineer solutions for DLP, cloud data protection, data classification, encryption, access governance, and related cybersecurity programs.
• Create API integrations and automation to collect and report security KPIs and KRIs.
• Automate security processes to improve operational efficiency and visibility and reduce risk.
• Support security engineering across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud environments.
• Work in Git-based development environments and modern CI/CD pipelines, and apply containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Assess vulnerabilities and implement security improvements across applications, platforms, and enterprise environments.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Legal, Privacy, Platform Engineering, and other stakeholders.
• Produce system design documentation, architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and data-flow documentation.
• Apply secure development principles for authentication, authorization, encryption, hashing, secrets management, and credential protection.

We are recruiting on behalf of a client partner in a global Data Security & Protection organization for a highly visible, hands-on contract role combining software development, cybersecurity engineering, automation, and enterprise data protection. This is a hybrid position in Plano, Texas, with three onsite days per week; it is not remote. The schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST. Compensation is $62–$65 per hour under a contractor pay-as-you-go arrangement. The contract is expected to last 6–12 months or longer, with potential extensions; the anticipated period is August 10, 2026, through February 10, 2027. The interview process is an onsite Texas interview with a Python coding round, technical interview, and HR interview. We act as the placement partner, handle candidate information confidentially, and share client-specific details with qualified candidates during the interview process. Duties may evolve with client needs and business growth.
